Our Story

I've had a passion for grilling and live fire cooking for most of my life. Around 2010, I began my obsession with barbecuing and smoking meat. I became immersed in the barbecue culture and began absorbing all the knowledge I could through reading books, watching barbecue television shows, eating at barbecue establishments, and devoting all of my spare time to the craft.

Barbecue is not just a job for me. It's my passion. I continue to develop insight about it daily. I love the history and the dedication of the "old school" barbecue pit masters.

Up until 2017, barbecue was just a hobby. On February 28, 2017, my brother-in-law, Greene County Sheriff Kevin M. Haverly, passed away in a line-of-duty accident in Greene County, New York. His passing put things into perspective for me and made me realize that life is too short. You have to pursue your dreams and be happy every day.

He always encouraged me to start a business, sell my barbecue, and live my dream.

Thus, Bernie's Blue Line Barbecue was born and it pays respect to my grandfather, Bernard Benosky, and my brother-in-law, Kevin "Haas" Haverly.

We are locally owned with a large emphasis on family.

Family is everything and barbecue is my life.

I look forward to sharing my passion for barbecue with you!
